In January, Advanced Optronics secured an exclusive, perpetual, worldwide license from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) to its core intellectual property. Co-founders Dr. Jay Reddy and Dr. Maysam Chamanzar developed the IP at CMU, building on years of work together on flexible implantable devices.

The licensed portfolio covers the manufacturing, design, use, and software of our sensors, which we are applying first to cochlear implant placement. UPMC Enterprises supported its development through CMU’s Center for Machine Learning and Health, with a grant titled “Smart Sensors for Evaluating and Improving Cochlear Implants.” CMU and UPMC Enterprises made this foundation possible, and we appreciate their support.
