Australian Patent Granted on Core Strain Sensor Technology
Australia has granted patent AU2023242782B2, “Microscale flexible strain sensor,” on our core technology. The patent covers the thin-film capacitive sensor behind FlexDetect, which was developed at Carnegie Mellon University and is exclusively licensed to us. Granted on June 12, 2025, it’s the first patent issued in the family.
The grant strengthens our IP position, since an examiner has reviewed the claims and found the sensor design new and inventive. The patent also complements the rest of our portfolio, which covers cochlear implant shape reconstruction, instrumented cochlear implants, and a cochlear implant training simulator. Applications in the same family are pending in Europe and the United States. Thanks to Carnegie Mellon University for filing these applications.
The patent is on Google Patents.
